Ok, so Abe and Gabriel are best buddies. Or Frenemies. I'm not quite sure. But they are as close to siblings as a dog and a boy can get really. Gabriel has always been infatuated with the dog since, well, basically birth, when we laid him right on top of Abe as a newborn and he got a hold of that big white fluffy fur.
There were definitely some rough times for Abe when we were living in a townhouse with not much space and no yard. Gabriel would get after Abe and drive him crazy, trying to poke his eyes, pull his fur over and over again. But overall, they really love each other. Gabriel is constantly wanting to feed him, helping put water in his dish and scoops of food. (You may have noticed how Abe is looking extra plump these days). Gabriel went through a period when he wanted to hold Abe's leash while buckled in the stroller and then, once he was very good on his feet, hold the leash while walking. And even now, he's obsessed with dogs, wanting to stop and pet (or pick up) just about every dog we meet.
So now that he just a little bit older, he's taken on training the dog. And wow, does Abe ever listen. The first couple of times were hilarious. He used a very loud stern voice telling him to "Get in his bed." And he always refers to him as "DOG" when he gets mad at him. I wonder where he learned that from. Ah, nothing like a toddler mirroring you to hear exactly what you sound like.... But now it's become a loud and clear dog training voice. Anyway here is a little clip of Gabriel practicing his training techniques: sit, down, stay.
