Kawartha Wedding: Betsy & Tommy.

This past weekend, our dear cousin Betsy got married to her best friend, Tommy and we were delighted to witness all of the beauty of day unfold.  It was a serene outdoor venue on the water in Kawartha Lakes, complimented by little touches done by the bride and her family--so elegant and classy.   They couldn't have had better weather.  We sat in the warm afternoon sun beside the lake on crisp white chairs to the languid flowing notes of a large harp.  The flower girls were simply darling with their little flower crowns, carrying little signs announcing the bride.  The bridemaids were gorgeous in their long flowy dresses.  And the bride, of course, was stunning--glowing and looking her most beautiful!

After the ceremony by the lake, we all parted ways to rejoin later for cocktails and dinner.  We completely lucked out when both Gabriel and Magdalene took an extra long nap late in the day and was able to join us for the reception that evening.  The past few months Gabriel's been crashing very very early in the evening.  But we told him that if he took another nap late in the day then he could join us for the party later.  And sure enough, he did!  So it was really fun to have both of them around for the evening as a special treat.  Magdalene was especially jubilant and chatty, giving smooches and hugs to family as she was passed around from person to person.  During speeches, Gabriel played with his cars around the table and under it.  And with the end of every speech, he would hop up on his chair and clap with great gusto and an enormous smile.  After dinner, once the music started, he grabbed Magdalene's hand and started dancing with her while she stood there giggling and shrieking with delight.  They were both quite charming.

The whole affair went off without a hitch and we were able to very much enjoy it all--taking in the speeches, the entire dinner and even a dance or two before putting the children to bed and returning to the party for awhile after to chat with friends and family.  A rare treat for us!
