On the Road.

Last night we just got in from being away from home for nearly two weeks.  As we turned the corner off the highway, we both remarked on how we knew haven't been away very long, but it felt like a month at least had gone by.  Maybe it was the last two hours of our trip that made it feel that way or the fact that it was nearly midnight and we all just wanted to get home and go to bed.

Traveling with the littles was actually pretty good.  There was one grueling day we were on the road for twelve hours, leaving the Kawarthas, driving for hours, dropping off our dog for the weekend, unpacking and repacking, flying to Manitoba on an evening flight (apparently, not as great an idea for children as I thought).  We managed well though, at times spectacularly, and other times, merely surviving but we are finally back in one piece.

We have had so many great adventures with the littles the past couple of weeks, both in the Kawartha Lakes and the prairies.  We have THOUSANDS of photos that I am so looking forward to going through and processing over the next couple of weeks.  Weddings, cottage ventures, boating, fishing, exploring and just sitting around being.  I can't even say how happy spending time with family and friends made me feel.  And even though Jordan had to spend time in the basement of the cottage working on his Masters thesis (with a looming deadline in October), we were still together and able to get out and go for swims, boat rides, BBQs and dinners and, of course, weddings.

So it's going to take me awhile to sort through and piece together all of the photos and stories and memories.  Finding time to narrow down, edit, process, write and blog has sort of taken a bit of a back burner and now that we are home, unpacking and resting, sleep training and potty training, finding time to carve out for reflection is just not really here at the moment.  But over the next couple of weeks you can count on something--especially those photos from Jordan's beautiful sister's wedding!  I cannot wait to put that together!
