This past weekend, my friend Annie from London came to Toronto with her two kids and it was one crazy summer weekend to be sure! Between visiting splash pads to ward off the heat and splashing around in the back yard, there was so much sun and activity that come yesterday evening I was so bagged. It was a serious effort to stay awake until 9:00. I was walking around like a suntanned zombie unable to accomplish anything. The kids both konked out early and slept until 8:00 this morning, a first in nearly six months!
We are loving the splash pads so far this year. We've gone and made new friends (always interesting hearing someone new's life story) and joined up with old friends (even better!). Gabriel just truly and honestly has the best smile and hysterical shrieking giggle as he runs through the water. I can tell you. He as happy to keep going even after two hours. We will certainly be found at Toronto's splash pads this year.
On Sunday, Annie and her girls came over to our place. It was a riot! The kids were jumping around in the pool, doing floats and rocket ships and blowing bubbles. We pretty much crammed a whole summer's worth of activities into one day--pool, bubbles, water squirters, Popsicles, watermelon, sprinklers, nail painting (always Fiona's favorite part). I think I was running around as much as the kids were. Gabriel was obsessed with Eleanor and wanted to help her do everything, although not so sure she appreciated it all the time.... But it's kind of adorable how the "older kids" always want to "help" the younger ones, don't you think?
Baby Emily wanted to take a swim too....
Painted red for Canada Day!
It was a fun way to spend a Sunday. We have so few left with our dear friends before they move to Calgary shortly! We are sure going to miss having them so close.
