Today we had a little firetruck party for our boy Gabriel, who is turning two this week! We opted to do a little party at our place with our closest Toronto friends and family and keep it small--some balloons, cupcakes and pizza--a glorified playdate where there were more adults than children. It was a busy day with five toddlers running around tackling each other, batting balloons and diving into the food, but it was wonderful. All the kids left with a balloon, sugar on their lips and the words "cake" and "balloons" on the tips of their tongues. And for Gabriel, his word for his birthday cake is "Happy! Happy!"
Cousins!!
I tried to find a place that would make little firetruck cookies (last minute). Sadly I wasn't organized enough to get this one thing planned in advance so it didn't pan out. BUT, I stopped into Cordi's bakery and picked up some of their delicious lady bug cookies. These are some of Gabriel's favorites. He points at them whenever we go into and says emphatically "BUG! BUG!"
They also happen to make your lips turn black if you aren't careful!
Apparently, fireman hats are way more fun to wear backwards.
Grandparents came! And thank goodness! Not sure how we would have done it all without their help.
Elsie, Gabriel's cousin says to me "I bet I know who gets THAT one!"
Delicious red velvet cupcakes from Bake Sale.
This was our best group shot--and we were missing one. Keeping toddlers still for 10 seconds... impossible!Just a few more pictures pictures from pre-birthday celebrations with my parents. And a little video. "Appy! Appy!" Isn't that how we all feel when cake and candles are involved?
Happy birthday Gabriel! You keep us smiling with the joy to you bring to our lives, your energy and excitement over life's simple pleasures, and your tenderhearted spirit. We love you!
