Well, it is most certainly fall here, if you couldn't tell by the chill that hangs in the air as the day falls into evening and by the crispness of the early mornings, you can most certainly tell by the vivid colour changing in the leaves. Despite quite warm afternoons here, the leaves are starting to change. And nowhere is it more beautiful than central to eastern Canada. Sorry, BC, your rainy fall has nothing on the change of leaves here!
We are embracing the cooler weather and all that it brings--walks under canopies of yellow and red in warming rays of the sun, hot oatmeal in the morning and hearty soups in the evenings, wooly sweaters, rich dark colours, the fall harvest--pears, apples, plums. And looking forward to the farms, and the tail-end of apple-picking season.

Planning on going apple picking soon, but I'm afraid we've missed the Cortlands, which are by far my favorite! You can't get these in BC, and I've missed them the past eight years--exceptionally crisp, and tart. Apparently they are cooking apples, but I prefer to eat them right off the tree. Apparently so does Gabriel, who sat in his stroller nibbling away on this huge Cortland for an hour and a half yesterday. I mean, the thing was the size of his head!

In some places, the colours are JUST starting to change. At least in Ontario, you can track it if you are keen and find out the hot spots of colour--when and where. HERE.
Sweet potato, ham and corn chowder. Oh, I love fall!
