Labour Day Last Weekend.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pie, you can find the recipe here.

Labour day.  Sigh.  The marker of the end of summer.  Not much would normally change around here, except for the beginning of nursery school and fall routines.  But Labour Day means something.  We all give our last hoorah to end off the summer and then every hot day after that is bonus, right?

We had a pretty great one last weekend with friends: blueberry picking, BBQing, pool partying, etc.  We went over to our friend's house for a "neighborhood" pool party--lots of great food and great friends.  It was very cute watching them all jumping into the water and hopping out and screeching.  Ok, maybe not the screeching.  But the running around chasing each other in the backyard was heart-warming and even if there was screeching, we knew they were having fun.

I also got out one evening with a friend to see Shakespeare in the Park, one of my favorite Toronto Summertime things to do!  I went to one about nine years ago with my cousins and it was so very memorable--picnic in the park before and then watched the play at the evening light disappeared into the night.  This year, we didn't get to picnic but we did see the show, which was very well done.  Maybe too well done?  Those graphic images from Titus, Shakespeare's most violent play, still linger in my mind....  Next year, a comedy, shall we?  But it is always such a wonderful experience.  And afterwards, dessert or a nightcap on Roncesvalles is truly a perfect evening out and a summer tradition worth repeating in my mind.

And then Monday, we went to check out the airshow, an annual Toronto event that we knew Gabriel, in particular, would enjoy.  Those "BEEeeeeg AIRpanes!!" sure made a lot of noise.  We didn't get to stay nearly as long as we would have liked; both children were pretty much a disaster from too much activity over the weekend.  You know, sometimes, I really just push my luck.  When will I learn?  Maybe next year we can actually make it down there and enjoy the whole thing because the Lakeshore and the Beaches really are some of my favorite parts about living in Toronto and watching the babes while they stare up in the sky in wonder at those loud jets overhead it pretty adorable too.

Hope you had a good one, whatever summer shenanigans you got up to!
