Big Puddle Alert!

This week we have family visiting.  And you know what's one of the best things about having family visit?  I don't have to always be "the adult."  Today, I took off my adult hat for about an hour and we took off to the park in search of the biggest puddle would could find.

When we lived in Vancouver, it rained a lot.  As a result the roads and highways often ended up with large puddles.  On the local radio station, drivers would call in to alert the radio that there was a big puddle on the highway--they became called "Big Puddle Alerts" which always made us giggle a little bit.  Anyway, today we found our big puddle--the melted skating rink at the park around the corner and oh man, was it fun.

Really, when you have a kid like Gabriel you couldn't stop him from jumping in puddles.  But nor would you want to.  It's just better to embrace the fun and maybe even join in. We ran through the biggest puddle in the park, jumped up and down in it and jumped off the side into it.  Gabriel was completely delighted to discover abandoned hockey pucks and carried as many as he could find home with him.

And at the end of our walk, we came home with big smiles on our faces and completely soaked.  And we might even do it again tomorrow. We are loving the beginnings of spring here. :)
