On the search for more adventures in this city while my parents were here, we took a trip to see the Scarborough Bluffs. The pictures I had seen were beautiful--pale grey sheer drop-offs right into the lake.
As we got near, we didn't see any signs indicating the bluffs, which we thought was a little bit odd. It must be a little known area. Once we parked and scoped out the viewpoints, I was at first a bit disappointed. There didn't seem to be any bluffs in sight. After we talked to a friendly local man, he told us about a trail down to see them from the beach. So with great hopes, we trekked a steep incline down to the beach area with the littles in tow.
Admittedly, we nearly claimed defeat. There was nothing to see and we
nearly turned back. However, I am glad we didn't. We pushed on a
little further and just around a bend in the trail (after about 30
minutes of trekking), we came across the steep rock-face that dropped into the lake. We stood and admired the rock and set up a little fishing spot where we fished seaweed with our makeshift fishing rods, Gabriel's latest favorite hobby.
The hike back was not one for the faint of heart. Kuddos to my parents who hiked up and down that incline, pushing a heavy stroller. Gabriel was just about done, we had resorted to the "jaguar crawl" to get up the mountain, when suddenly Bumpa, my dad appeared waving his bright blue hat, calling out in his booming Tarzan call. Gabriel turned to me and said, "Gotta hurry, Bumpa being silly." He's clued in, that kid. He knows his Bumpa can be pretty crazy sometimes.
Gotta say, this warmer weather is making us more keen for adventure! So happy to have so many months of sunshine and adventures ahead of us!
