Nana turns 80!

Happy Birthday to my dear Nana who turns 80 this year.  Amidst patients, the bleering of intercoms and the hum of hospital beeps, we joyfully celebrated the turning of a new year with the hope of rehabilitation and possibly a "new pad" that will better meet Nana's needs.

And we took off for the East Coast...

We took off for Fred for the month.  And this is the pile of stuff we took.....  Large suitcase containing a month's worth of clothing for Gabriel and I as well as additional wedding items for Jordan, a car seat (precariously perched behind the suitcase on the handles of the cart, the crate, the dog, Gabriel's stroller, diaper bag (equipped with about 10 different toys), the nice camera, the moby wrap (just in case), Gabriel, Abe and I.

We made it!  Five minutes (that felt like 30) of crying (where I wished there was a hole I could crawl into), 3.5 hours of sleep during the flights, giggly boy, happy dog, exhausted and slobbered on, but relieved mama. We were lucky to meet some wonderful people (a very friendly engineer and fashion designer from Dubai and later an aspiring environmental law student) on the plane who distracted and held Gabriel to give me a break from all the wiggling.  Success!

Fortunately we had friends and family to help us on either side!

When old life meets new life

Visited my grandmother, "Great Nana" today with little Gabriel.  They were equally entranced by each other.  There is nothing like hearing the squeals and giggles of delight in the wing of the hospital mostly filled by the elderly.  Very heartwarming.
